He sent me the message via WhatsApp in the morning at 10. I was offline at that time and in a meeting in the office of the Dean of Students. I’ve had a long day today. I’ve been in the Guild Office for most of the day, leaving at half past six in the evening. I reached home at eight. Retired and lying on my bed, I opened the app and started responding to the unread messages I had. And there it was, Hans’s chat, marked with a “3” in green.

The title. The title said it all and in capitals. It was calling out to me to read what it entitled. And so I tapped the link and boom, the photo. My picture! The picture was used to announce me as the 13th Guild President of CUU in a poster that went viral on social media.

I smiled. I laughed. I was happy. I was moved. I was humbled. I was honoured as well! And when I read the first paragraph, with its diction, I drowned…
Now, I reblog the post here so it can finish the story it only tells best. I thank God I’ve received and read and now permanently stored such a toast at such a young age. Isn’t he such a witty writer?! Enjoy!

HOW I MET MR. ATWIINE
As I am soon handing over the office, I am very much satisfied that there is one whose life I have impacted. I now know I have served the students of CUU and I can retire honourably! The article speaks volumes about conviction-based leadership and servant leadership, which my friends and I, in a fraternity we call Tuko Pamoja, believe is the way to social transformation if only our leaders fronted conviction rather than ambition! I hope this article does challenge you and inspires you as it does me!

So, that was me, let me hear from you too…
