Just Saying Hello

Hey! Didn’t I say I am just saying hello? So, jambo pals. It’s really been long since you last heard from me or rather my loose pen and trust me, I have missed you guys so dearly. For the past couple of months or so, I have been reposting blog posts by my fellow bloggers that I follow which shows that I have not been so lazy to read at least. In fact, I have tried writing many times but I had bought a new rope for my loose pen’s tether and before it could wear, he couldn’t escape to wander and tell his stories. So now that the rope is getting old, I have had to run out in search for my wandering buddy and hell no, this guy can really kuzunga (wander and loiter about)! On the streets, in other people’s homes, in town, and literally everywhere. So, brace yourselves to enjoy a refreshing and stress-killing or a good-day-ending-well read.

The stories are obviously many and I don’t really know where to start. So, I have now tasked my confined pen, since he’s not loose presently, to come up with a table of contents and so you may consider this a preface.😆😆

I am not laughing at that, no. I am laughing at the fact that thinking about it now, I would take it for a humble observation if you called me the laziest man on earth! Yes, I just said so. And trust me, I have discovered it’s one shot of a prescription. I mean, haven’t you heard it almost a thousand times before that you cannot solve an imaginary problem? You have to know the problem first, then seek for a solution next. So, until I accept I am lazy (which is very shaming and difficult for me to admit – it’s a process), I cannot help myself to better my character. And as soon as that sank in me, I had to pass by here and say, hello, at least. I couldn’t allow to do so later.

In fact, I have always been allowing myself to do so for almost all my life. There has been always a tomorrow for me; unfortunately. And even if it has cost me a great deal of opportunities – one-time bouts of luck, I have always believed and consoled myself that it wasn’t my time or even blessing! Can you imagine that? And for the other times, I have missed opportunities to better myself but I guess I have been blinded to realise this hard enough to deal with it in time. For instance, if there is no deadline, I won’t work. If it is there but weak and easily pardonable, I won’t also work until literally the very last moment. So, you have guessed right to think that I hand in my class assignments and courseworks last and most times past the deadline. Yes, it goes without saying for sure, that I even embark on most of them on the deadline date! And in one way or another, my name, Blessed, has been judiciously justified. So don’t ask me, ninkikora nta – how I do it? I don’t know.

To answer you; however, I would think that like any other thing or craft, it takes discipline to conquer. In my former craft, it takes just a good amount of discipline and loyalty to the craft if you have to conquer. One, there is no room for fear, nervousness or the like because with those, you just can’t start typing your coursework two hours before the submission deadline. You can’t taste the wrath of the most principled and serious lecturer, or rather trust your cunning nature to be favoured and pardoned, at least by the merciful God. You just can’t pull off the seriousness of being late without affecting your passing as a serious and busy student. Hmm haha! You just can’t deceive yourself that you’re a “badass”. And if I will crown it up with the words a colleague, Kevin, once told me; you just can’t comfortably settle for less! That’s the plain truth. Just watch “Lucy” another time and thank me or Morgan Freeman. Back to the count, two, you have to have faith and trust in yourself. Three, you have to be pretty smart; otherwise, you wouldn’t keep in that comfort zone. So, that’s how I have been living my great life.

You may want to ask why I now say this. And how I’m getting over it. It’s a process. It’s an addiction that is killing many youth today slowly like cancer. Indeed it is a cancer. It is like falling in love with someone – forget your love at first sight thing here. You take a pretty long time to feel for him or her but even longer time to erase them out of your heart. That’s how it is for me.   The same discipline it took me to master the art (and I have been pretty smart) is just about the same or even more I will need to drop it. So, to be honest, it’s not that my loose pen’s rope has worn out or anything (this guy will always escape my tether), I have just been too lazy to pick him up. He’s stayed out in the crazy cold and dark Entebbe nights and he’s braved the rains and thunder bolts. And while I could swear on the Holy Cross I missed him so very much, you wouldn’t believe me after what I have done to my good friend, Kachumu ( It means pen in Runyankore by the way). That’s how bad laziness and procrastination is!

I have gathered my lazy bones up and I’m fighting hard to reverse this bad trait by reading a lot and you can see this from the kind of posts I have categorically shared on my blog. I have read about and watched interviews of my “role models”. I have talked to friends and I’m now trying to put everything to action. I’m glad that it actually works. I mean, I have stated that I have been vainly trying to write, but the truth is I had never held my pen nor went to my keyboard in that endeavour. What I meant by that was composing my brain to write. I would occasionally succeed and some verses would be formed and that would blind me to think I still have the juices in there. Well, I definitely still have them, but the bitter truth is that the more I don’t seive them out, the more the seive fills up and soon I wouldn’t be able to access my own juice. I am talking to you, friend, just don’t even finish this, just get up already and start on your plans for life.

If you must dig, grab that hoe; if you must sew, grab that needle; paint, pick up the brush; read, get the book; write like I do, get the pen… if you must move, forget the shower, just put on the shoes and shut the door behind you and walk into the new you.

Ehuuu! Phew! I guess I just talked way too much when I said hello. Hahaha, I really missed you guys and I want to promise to meet you more frequently onwards. As I said, I just passed by and I thought it’d be courteous to say a little hello.

It’s already 2 am…! I hope you had a good night. I am just going to bed myself… Bye.

  1. I think that everything composed was very logical.
However, think about this, what if you added a little
content? I mean, I don’t wish to tell you how to run your blog, but suppose you added
a title that makes people want more? I mean Just Saying Hello –
The Loose Pen is kinda boring. You ought to glance at
Yahoo’s home page and watch how they write article headlines to
grab viewers interested. You might try adding a video or
a related picture or two to grab people interested about what you’ve written. Just my opinion, it might make your posts a little livelier. https://www.almasryalyoum.com/news/details/2043464

So, that was me, let me hear from you too…
